Huntsville Church Plant Update
|Huntsville Church Plant Update|
Issue # 44
I hope your summer is going well! Here's an update on how things are going for us:
As I mentioned in my previous update, I was beginning to show some signs of burnout and went on a mini-Sabbatical for some emotional rest and spiritual refreshment. That was an excellent time for me. I spent some of the time with my family, did some traveling, some reading, and lots of journalling and praying. Having been back at it for about six weeks, I'm feeling much better and have a renewed sense of vision and energy. Thank you for your prayers!
Summer at MCC
As is our tradition, we've moved our Sunday services outside for the summer. We meet at a park along the river, right in the heart of downtown Huntsville. It's quite an interesting challenge, singing and speaking while pedestrians, cars, bikes, boats, canoes, kayaks and even the occasional float plane go by! But it's a great experience for us, connecting with our community in a way we never could if we were indoors waiting for people to come to us.
We've welcomed several musical guests over the summer, which has been a great break for our regular band (and especially me!). In two weeks the band from Radial Church in Canton, Ohio (one of our denomination's newest church plants) will be joining us for the Sunday service and our MCC camping weekend. On the Saturday evening we plan to baptize at least 5 people and enjoy an evening of worship and communion.
MCC is Turning Five!
It's hard to believe, but this fall marks the fifth anniversary from our launch. We're still making plans, but we'd love to have many of you, our supporters from afar, join us for this celebration. If you'd be interested in coming up for the festivities on the weekend of October 20, email me!
Earlier this year our leadership began a conversation about relocating. Last week I looked at a facility that has a lot of potential. Please pray for wisdom, and some sort of miraculous financial providence or price break as the market value would be way, way beyond what we could afford.
God recently surprised our family with a change of scenery. Through a series of events and coincidences that we're convinced are his handiwork, we've sold our house "out in the country" and will be moving into town (in Huntsville) in two weeks. Though we'll miss our little piece of paradise, we're all excited about the increased convenience and decreased maintenance that the new house promises. We are also aware that God has people for us to impact there in our new neighbourhood.
Packing and planning have pretty much dominated our summer so far. Other than that, we're all doing well. Aidan is 12 and going into grade 7, Kara is 7 and starts grade 2, and Ella is 4 and is thrilled to begin Junior Kindergarten part time this fall.
Thanks again for all your support and prayers! Five years in, I'm convinced that your prayers are still as important as the day we launched. And to those of you who still support us financially, I can't tell you how grateful I am or how amazingly God orchestrates your generosity to meet our needs!
